Day 3 All Hail K.I. … and Hail it did!

We started with an overcast day in Cape Jervis, gusts & showers forecast later in the day so I was glad we took the early ferry. Somehow tho dad read our ferry time as 8am, which equated to a 6am start to the day, soon found out he was an hour early when we arrived… Oooops!

The ferry ride over wasn’t too bad thank goodness, so after unloading we made our way up to the info centre to see what we could do in and around Penneshaw, and that was about the time it started raining. After a beachside stop for lunch we headed out to the "Sturt Light" aka Cape Willoughby Lighthouse (SA's first  lighthouse). Boy was it windy poor dad nearly got blown away!
We decided to take a trip around the Dudley Peninsula to get back to Pennishaw.
This took us through Dudley Conservation Park & Brown’s Beach, a lovely little beachside camping spot with fantastic modern long drop toilets, showers & undercover BBQ area.
We met a guy from Melbourne as we took shelter from the next down poor in the BBQ area. He was a wealth of information telling us we could view fairy penguins there and we soon discovered he owned a pub in Kerang, so had a lot to talk about from back home.  The poor bloke was camping in a tent which ended up getting blown over in the hail storm, so we did our good deed for the day & helped him put it back up.

Back on the bitumen we headed home to Pennishaw for the evening to dry off & try and fix our stove, to no avail.  (Some water that was left in the sink managed to slosh around & get in stuffing up the burners). Thankfully we had a powered site for the night and were able to cook a few days worth of dinners just in case!
